Frequently asked questions

Does Superlatte use natural ingredients only?

Yes. Superlatte products contain natural, non-GMO and non-irradiated ingredients sourced from suppliers we trust. Our key ingredients are certified organic, and we do not use artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, sweeteners or thickeners.

The range is blended in small batches and packed in a compliant South African facility that also operates as a social enterprise. The people packing Superlatte products develop practical micro-business skills as part of their work.

What is Superlatte’s shelf life?

Every Superlatte product carries a 24-month shelf life from its date of manufacture. The best-before date appears on the base of each pack.

Once a pouch has been opened, close the seal completely after every use and store the product in a cool, dry place away from direct light and moisture. Matcha is particularly delicate, so careful storage will preserve its colour, aroma and flavour for longer.

Opening the bag does not start a countdown. Superlatte pouches are resealable and designed to keep your blend fresh well past the first scoop. The bags are small, and powdered blends stay stable as long as they are closed properly, so press the seal shut across the full width of the bag each time. Keep your Superlatte out of direct light and away from moisture, and the flavour and aroma stay fresh while the colour stays true.

How does Superlatte ensure product freshness?

Freshness starts long before Superlatte seals a pouch. It starts at purchasing. Superlatte buys ingredients in small batches so that every blend is packed with the freshest stock available, never with last season's leftovers. We are particular about who we buy from. Our suppliers have to value quality, freshness, and sustainability the way Superlatte does, or we look elsewhere.

The ingredients themselves arrive in 5 to 10kg double micron pouches, which fight off moisture and oxidation from the moment they leave the supplier to the moment they reach the Superlatte blending bench. Less exposure means a better cup.

What is Superlatte's matcha freshness approach

Matcha is the most delicate thing Superlatte handles, and we treat it that way. We pack our Organic Ceremonial Matcha in a controlled environment with air and moisture control: a dedicated matcha room, run by Superlatte packers trained specifically to work with it. Matcha loses its colour and its character fast when it is exposed to air, heat, or light. Keeping it in its own space, handled by its own team, is how Superlatte protects the green. Learn more about how we ensure a fresh, delicious matcha supply to South African cafes and stores.

What are Superlatte’s wholesale payment terms?

New wholesale accounts generally begin on a payment-before-order basis. Your order will be processed once payment has cleared.

Alternative payment terms can be discussed as the trading relationship develops. Any agreed terms must be confirmed directly with Superlatte or Deluxe Coffeeworks.

How much does wholesale delivery cost?

Shipping is charged per order and depends on the delivery location, parcel size and weight. We will confirm the delivery charge when we prepare your wholesale quote.

Does Superlatte deliver wholesale orders across South Africa?

Yes. We send wholesale orders throughout South Africa by courier and generally use The Courier Guy.

Courier charges are calculated per order according to its size, weight and destination. Delivery times vary by location and will be confirmed when your order is processed.

How quickly will my wholesale order arrive in Cape Town?

Orders within the Cape Town metro are generally delivered within two to three business days once payment has cleared and the order has been confirmed.

We will let you know if stock availability or an unusually large order is likely to affect that timeframe.

Does Superlatte deliver to the Cape Winelands?

Yes. We deliver to the Cape Winelands on a weekly route. Contact us before ordering so that we can confirm the next delivery day for your area.

Can I return a wholesale order?

Yes. An unopened product may be returned within seven days of delivery, provided it is unused, untouched and in its original sealed packaging.

For food-safety reasons, we cannot accept products that have been opened or tampered with. Please contact us before returning anything so that we can confirm the return and provide the correct instructions.

What is included in Superlatte’s wholesale price?

Your quote covers the selected Superlatte products and pack formats. Wholesale customers can also receive preparation guidance and laminated café recipe cards.

Cafés ordering through Deluxe Coffeeworks in Cape Town and the Cape Winelands can book free barista matcha training. There is no separate training charge.

What does wholesale matcha cost in South Africa?

Superlatte wholesale pricing is available directly from our distribution partner, Deluxe Coffeeworks.

We do not publish a fixed trade price online because wholesale pricing can change with pack size, order volume, delivery arrangements and current import costs. Ask us for a quote and we will give you the pack price, recommended serving size, approximate servings per pack and matcha cost per cup. No vague pricing and no guesswork at the bar.

Request a wholesale price list.

Is Superlatte an affordable wholesale matcha?

Yes. Superlatte was developed to give cafés access to certified organic, ceremonial-grade matcha at a workable cost per cup.

Our focus is not on being the cheapest matcha by weight. It is on giving cafés strong value from a matcha that tastes good, performs consistently with milk and does not require an excessive dose to show up in the finished drink.

Every wholesale enquiry can include a cost-per-cup calculation based on your serving size, milk choice and intended menu price.

How can I compare wholesale matcha prices?

Start with cost per cup rather than price per bag. Two matcha products sold at similar pack prices may require very different serving sizes.

Ask each supplier for:

  • Pack price and weight
  • Recommended dose per drink
  • Approximate servings per pack
  • Matcha cost per cup
  • Organic certification
  • Freshness and packing information
  • Delivery charges
  • Minimum order requirements
  • Training and recipe support

Superlatte supplies this information with your wholesale quote so that you can compare the numbers properly.

Is cheaper wholesale matcha better value?

Not necessarily. A lower price per kilogram can be cancelled out by a larger serving size, inconsistent colour, excessive bitterness or drinks that require more syrup to make them palatable.

Value should be measured across the full cup: dose, flavour, appearance, waste, ease of preparation and repeat orders. The best wholesale matcha is the one that produces a good drink at a sustainable menu margin.

Can Superlatte help me calculate my matcha latte margin?

Yes. Tell us your cup size, milk cost, intended selling price and whether you include sweetener. We can help you calculate the approximate ingredient cost and gross margin for each drink.

This makes it easier to set a menu price before you order, rather than discovering later that the recipe is too expensive to serve consistently.

Does Superlatte supply flavours other than matcha?

Yes. Superlatte’s wholesale café range includes Organic Ceremonial Matcha, Matcha Mint Latte, Beetroot Cocoa Latte, Turmeric Latte and Shroom Hot Chocolate.

The broader range gives cafés several caffeine-free and plant-based menu options without adding complicated recipes or long ingredient lists behind the bar. Ask us for the current wholesale range and available pack sizes.

Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha Shelf Life and Freshness

One of the most common questions we receive is how long our Organic Ceremonial Matcha stays fresh.

Unfortunately, a lot of information online lumps all matcha products together. Some sources suggest matcha should be consumed within a few weeks of opening, while others quote entirely different timeframes. These recommendations are often based on general guidance rather than a specific product, manufacturing process, packaging format, or quality control system.

When it comes to Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha, the answer is simple.

What is the shelf life of Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha?

Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha has a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture.

The best before date is printed on the base of every pack and is the date we recommend customers follow.

Our 24 month shelf life is not a generic estimate. It reflects how the product is sourced, handled, packed, stored, and monitored throughout its life.

When stored according to the instructions on the pack, Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha is designed to maintain its quality, flavour, aroma, and colour through to the printed best before date.

What is the shelf life of Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha once the bag is opened?

Our matcha is packed in a resealable pouch specifically selected to protect the product from oxygen, moisture, and light. As long as the pouch is properly resealed after use and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, the product continues to be protected.

Once opened, and properly re-sealed, matcha connoisseurs will get up to 24 months of shelf life from
Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha.

Once opened, the most important date remains the best before date printed on the base of the pack.

Opened: For the absolute best flavour and bright green color, it is recommended to consume an opened pouch within 24 months.

Does opening Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha reduce its shelf life?

No. Opening the bag does not create a separate expiry date or start a new freshness countdown.

The most important date remains the best before date printed on the base of the pack.

Does Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha need refrigeration?

No.Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha does not require refrigeration.

In many cases, refrigeration can introduce unnecessary moisture through condensation when a product is repeatedly moved between cold and warm environments.

For best results:

  • Reseal the pouch fully after every use
  • Store in a cool, dry cupboard
  • Keep away from direct sunlight
  • Avoid humid environments
  • Always use a clean, dry spoon

How does Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha stay fresh for 24 months?

Freshness starts long before a pouch is sealed.

Over almost 10 years of producing Superlatte products, we have continually refined our sourcing, handling, packing, and quality control processes to protect delicate ingredients and maximise freshness.

What began as an 18 month shelf life has evolved into a 24 month shelf life through improvements in packaging, production controls, ingredient handling, and our long-term understanding of how the product performs over time.

Small batch sourcing

Superlatte purchases ingredients in smaller quantities to ensure stock moves quickly through our supply chain and does not spend unnecessary time sitting in storage.

We work only with suppliers who share our commitment to quality, freshness, traceability, and sustainability.

Dedicated matcha handling environment

Matcha is one of the most delicate ingredients we work with.

Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha is packed in a dedicated matcha room with strict environmental controls designed to minimise exposure to moisture, contaminants, and allergens.

The room operates under allergen-controlled procedures and is managed by team members specifically trained to handle matcha products.

Full batch traceability

Every batch of Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha is fully traceable.

From ingredient sourcing through to finished product packing, we maintain detailed batch records as part of our product quality and food safety processes.

The Organic Seal | Agricultural Marketing Service

Certified organic quality

Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha is certified USDA Organic and undergoes independent verification through accredited Australian laboratory testing and quality assurance processes.

This gives customers confidence not only in the purity of the product, but also in the consistency of every batch.

Protective recyclable packaging

Packaging plays a critical role in freshness.

Superlatte Organic Ceremonial Matcha is packed in a recyclable #4 LDPE pouch selected for its ability to protect the product while supporting responsible recycling practices.

The pouch creates an effective barrier against moisture and environmental exposure while remaining consistent with the packaging standards adopted by many major retailers in South Africa and the United Kingdom.

How to keep your Superlatte matcha fresh

Looking after your matcha is simple.

  • Press the seal closed across the full width of the pouch after every use
  • Store away from direct sunlight
  • Keep away from moisture and steam
  • Avoid storing near heat sources
  • Use a clean, dry spoon

Follow those simple steps and your matcha will continue to perform exactly as intended through to the printed best before date.

"As matcha is particularly sensitive to oxygen, moisture, heat and light, our handling and packaging procedures are designed specifically to minimise exposure throughout the packing process."
