No Coffee Machine? No Problem

Making a frothy, cafe-style Superlatte is totally doable at home, once you know the tricks of the trade. Here are 3 ways for you to try.

Lacking a trained barista and Italian espresso machine at home? Well that might be a high standard to achieve, but for most of us, having a lovely coffee machine on the counter with a milk steamer is just as out of reach. In fact, I certainly donʼt have a machine on my kitchen counter and I run a hot beverage business! But while I do love making Superlatteʼs with a coffee machine steam wand in cafes, there are 3 methods that are just as good for home. One of which, is my favourite for the most satisfying Superlatte of all.

Microwave method

The first foolproof way to make a frothy creamy Superlatte without a coffee machine is to use a microwave to heat the milk. Easy at the office, and done within a minute.

  1. Using a non-metallic jug or a large cup, warm 250ml milk or plant-based alternative in the micro.
  2. Once warm, but not boiling, add the recommended amount of Superlatte powder.
  3. Add about a half teaspoon coconut oil (totally optional).
  4. Use a small handheld stick blender (for best results) or a battery powered cappuccino / milk frother to properly blend and froth the mixture.
  5. Pour into your favourite cup or double walled coffee glass
  6. Garnish with edible flowers or cinnamon and cocoa etc, if youʼre feeling extra indulgent!
Stove Top Method

This has to be my favourite method of all. By gently brewing your milk and Superlatte blend, youʼre going to get a smoother, creamier, richer avour experience, much like you would from a traditional stove top chai. I use a small pot that makes about 2 cups, and itʼs all done in under 3 minutes.

Thereʼs really something to be said for going old school and taking the time to make yourself a treat.

  1. In a mini saucepan, warm 250ml milk or plant-based alternative.
  2. While warming, add the recommended amount of Superlatte powder
  3. Add about a half teaspoon coconut oil (totally optional)
  4. Use a battery powered cappuccino / milk frother to properly blend and froth the mixture.
  5. Pour into your favourite cup or double walled coffee glass
Milk Frother Method

Youʼre nearly a Barista when you own one of these nifty appliances. Iʼm talking about a milk frother, a gadget much like a mini kettle, that heats and froths your milk at the touch of a button. While theyʼre not cheap, a milk frother ainʼt going to break the bank either, and is a handy thing to have if youʼre regularly craving a hot frothy Superlatte.

  1. Add 250ml milk or plant-based alternative to your milk frother, together with the recommended amount of Superlatte powder. Quick Stir.
  2. Add about a half teaspoon coconut oil (totally optional)
  3. Hit the button to heat and froth your Superlatte mixture.
  4. Pour into your favourite cup or double walled coffee glass
And there you have it. 3 ways to make your favourite turmeric, beetroot or matcha latte at home without a coffee machine. Enjoy!
